I decided when MobileMe was having so many issues for the first month not to renew my membership. Because of this I have not paid much attention to it lately. What are the thoughts from people on this forum with regard to MobileMe at the present time? Has it improved enough from the first month to convince you to renew? My membership is up in 14 days so I would like to know if it is worthwhile. I definitely will not be renewing my family membership, it would just be for myself. I notice that the renewal packages on eBay have gotten really cheap lately (max is about $58 shipped, cheapest I've seen about $30 shipped) and was wondering why.

EDIT: I have already moved most of my email to gmail, and changed to FireFox and Foxmarks, so MM really isn't necessary, but at the current eBay prices I may just keep it anyway.

I like it and don't have any complaints. I rarely use the web mail, but haven't had a single issue with mail or sync on my iphone or any of my Macs. I use the iDisk to transfer large files to clients and have had nary a problem.

That's good to hear. Has it been reliable at sending and receiving email (the most important part of MM for me)? When it first started it was notorious for dropping sent mail and never receiving mail that was sent to it. I had many of those problems myself. Sometimes aliases would work and sometimes not; sometimes the main address would work and sometimes not. At least I never had it delete my entire inbox like many people did (and some have still never recovered their emails AFAIK).

Put me in for a vote on MobileMe working well now. I also started up on my free trial just after I got my iPhone 3G, and almost immediately abandoned it. After the trial extensions though, I went back and things were much improved.

So far I haven't had any issues with Mail, it's been very reliable for me. And I have lost any contacts or calendar appointments yet, so I'm very happy with that. I already bought my discounted activation code :D and will be renewing as soon as my trial is (finally) up.

i've always been happy with dotmac/mobileme aside from hating the new name. I also use ff with myfoxmarks and was hoping a new firefox extension would come out so your bookmarks will sync with mobileme.

I've never had problems sending or receiving mail. I don't use it as my everyday email (I use Gmail for that), but I do use it to communicate with clients and have not missed anything.

I have questions. Sometimes things happen with MobileMe where I don't know if they are glitches or just the way it is. For example, see my thread on other users' Public folders.

Biggest complaint at this time is that the iDisk seems to be slow in comparison to traditional FTP or YouSendIt. Also, the upload progress is not accurately displayed so you don't know if it will take 5 more minutes or 5 more hours except by your own intuitive estimation.

MobileMe Finally working

I've had a variety of problems with MM - calendars not syncing is one of the biggest. But, as of yesterday, suddenly everything seems to be working much better - Mail and iCal now syncing OK.

I went ahead and bought another year of MM (cheap) from an eBay merchant but haven't heard from them at all since I paid for it over the weekend. I need it because my subscription is up in a few days. If my subscription expires, do I get a grace period in which to reinstate the account?

My personal experience hasn't been as bad as what I've read on the forums from other users.

Grouping and exporting contacts does not seem to function at all, I've tried a variety of work arounds and none work.

The calendar is also buggy. If you make recurring appointments and modify them on the iPhone all kinds of weird things happen. Also, you cannot set a reminder on the MobileMe site, for your appointments. You have to add it, go to your phone and modify it. Worst of all, if you do that you risk that item being deleted or corrupted.

I guess I haven't been that happy with it overall, considering I paid $70 for it. It if worked as advertised I'd be happy.
