My setup is:

Mini 2010 - HDMI - Vizio 42" 1080p

Question, Is there an advantage to:

Mini 2010 - mini display adapter to HDMI - Vizio 42" 1080p

Advantage to what?

HDMI is currently the best method to transfer HD video and audio from a digital source to a digital device.

specifically related to video output. Does one have a higher bandwith than the other? Does one interact with Gforce 320m differently? Is there and difference in video clarity etc. etc.

You will anyway use the HDMI so it doesn't matter. Even though mDP has higher bandwidth, it will be capped due to HDMI. Besides, higher bandwidth only helps when you use it.

Unless you have issues with your current setup, don't start playing with it

Ok. Thanks for the info.
