i'm running 2.2 on the iphone 3g. I will be using pwnage to create a custom firmware. i have both firmwares downloaded 2.2 and 2.2.1. If i use 2.2.1 in pwnage will it automatically compile the firware with the 2.2 baseband? or will it just jailbreak it but keep the new unlockable baseband?

This is the only bit of info i'm not sure about with the whole process. I think i read as much as i need to.

thanks for any help

i hope someone will get back to me today. I'm so anxious to jailbreak.

just to restate will the latest pwnage tool 2.2.5 automatically remove the new baseband from firmware 2.2.1?

Yes, it will remove the new baseband from the firmware.
In Pwnage Tool, the Enable baseband update option is de-selected and greyed out.

As explained here + a walkthrough tutorial here.
