Connecting this to the computer, does this charge the iPad?

I noticed that it says it's not charging when I do and I'm going to assume it's not charging but wanted to confirm.

It should charge. It will take a long time, but it should charge.

If it says not charging, then something is up and it's not charging.

It's been mentioned. USB ports on computers do not have enough Amps to charge the iPad when the screen is on. But the only way to see the charge status is to have the screen on, so it looks like the iPad is not charging.

Best to charge it from the wall.

Actually, if it's a properly implemented USB 2.0 port it should charge fine. My Macbook Pro charges fine but an older PC laptop does not.

Currently on my HP 2710p Tablet PC, it doesn't work there. It also doesn't work on one of the older Dell's.

I'll have to try it on my macbook pro.

Hrm..

My 2006 Mac Pro shows the not charging message when I plug it into sync, but as was mentioned, when it goes into sleep mode it does charge.
