Pretty simple, looking for a cydia app/tweak that gives me quick reply.

I used bitesms for a while until I found out it can cause battery drain.

Any help guys?

Thanks in advance.

Messages+ is an option. Personally nothing can even compare to bite and even if a little extra battery drain happened I'd probably put up with it. I actually have fantastic battery life tho. Never bought the fact that bite would negatively affect battery life. Email the bite team and they will look into it.

There is a cydia tweak called "QuickReply for SMS" which does that

If you pay attention you'll notice that when bitesms is running in the background (99% of the time) it is racking up usage time with the phone asleep. Which no other app does this. But as soon as you close bitesms, usage stops racking up. Something in bitesms is always running in the background, draining the battery a certain amount.

So, after fighting this out, I uninstalled bitesms and noticed significant battery changes and my usage time wasn't racking up.

Well, maybe I close mine more often or it's not noticeable cause I am getting great battery life.

my phone does NOT do this

I can't understand how you still believe this after being proven wrong time and time again in your other thread, but whatever.

Especially since BiteSMS doesn't run in the background...if you use Springtomize's "dim inactive apps" in the switcher, BiteSMS is always dimmed.

If its the most recent, full version of bitesms, it is.

Sorry. There's a reason anecdotal evidence is considered garbage when testing software or hardware bugs; it's because your "observations" are pure confirmation bias. I have the full, paid version as well, and lo and behold, actual testing with an app designed to measure this sort of thing reveals....

...the exact opposite of what you're claiming. (Test taken with BatteryDetective from Cydia, which measures battery drain while an app is backgrounded.) Having tested it numerous times, I can tell you is shows a -10mAh draw in the first 30 seconds to a minute after being backgrounded, which is negligible and not uncommon for any app as it goes into a saved state. Any time after that, random testing produces the 0 mAh result pictured.

I also have yet to have my usage and standby times match, whether or not bite is open. If you were correct, that absolutely should occur on my phone daily, because I rarely close bite.

You may very well have a battery issue. But a full paid version of biteSMS running in the background isn't the causing it. I strongly suggest that if you're having problems, you look at all the battery tools the Cydia offers. Unlike Apple's pathetic excuse for measuring battery "usage" under settings, these will give you accurate, detailed information about what's really happening...and isn't that a major point of jailbreaking?

biteSMS is the superior Quick Reply/Compose and even Messenger App replacement. It's worth every single penny and I can't stress enough how much I spent just trying the alternatives and I came back running to biteSMS.

It's interesting, I hear a lot of people swearing their allegiance to bitesms, which is fine and all, but I am scratching my head in the fact that not one person is talking about performance issues in the speed at which bite opens.
I have been using bite for a year and within the last few months the time it takes to open, is really a deal breaker...which is why I am searching for an alternative and hence, found this thread.

For the last week or so, I just open up the stock app to quickly shoot out a txt, waiting 20 to 30 seconds is an eternity when wanting to send a quick msg to someone.
I like the features in bitesms but I am wondering if it has run its course.

I'll have to try message+ if its available for ios6, other than that I am still looking.

Are you using the latest beta version? Release notes said they optimized the opening time, and I certainly agree.

In my opinion the best alternative to BiteSMS is "Messages" not Messages+. It came out about a month ago. I believe it uses the built in apple messages app for its quick compose feature. Check it out.

Thanks for the feedback, I downloaded the beta version and it is a lot faster on the load up time.
About 5 seconds.
Life is good again.

Thank you!

If you paid for BiteSMS, I'd suggest you try the beta before giving up.
cydia.bitesms.com

If that doesn't work, I suggest you comment in their forums and give detailed info.

EDIT: Beat to it lol.
