Earlier versions of Mac OS let me use spacebar to use quick view to get a large window displaying the selected file. Now when I do this it only opens a floating window with a small preview or thumbnail of the selected file. How do I change it to show the full preview?

Thanks.

Definitely still works with the spacebar, so I wonder if you're viewing with the grid view if you're previewing multiple docs. Can you provide the exact steps you're using, and whether it's multiple or single docs, and what the doc types are (although I'm not sure that's a factor)? I'd like to try to reproduce it.

I just click on a file and press the spacebar. I tried with photos and some pdf files. I’m trying this with individual files. Thanks.

Testing with a 3 page PDF, I got a column that was maybe 2" wide, so the text was not readable at that size. It was easy enough to drag the window wider. Another PDF was 20+ pages and the first page was visible but too small to read and the other pages were shown as thumbnails.

It seems that the Quick Look opening format is related to the document's original format. Some photos I tried opened almost full screen and were high res photo downloads; others were pretty small and shot on an older iPhone.

But these are just guesses as to why it might behave that way.

I have used Quick Look a lot throughout the years, and this is definitely something different. It is also happening on a brand new MBP running 12.4. It seems to be functioning normally with textedit, however, it is not working with .jpg files or .png screenshots, or .mp4 or .mov video files.

Here are an example of a .jpg and .png file that I just took of this page, they both show how the popup quick look window displays with info about the files and a small thumbnail preview. thanks.

Edit: the photo was taken from somewhere online and it is a .jpg sized at 4080x3072
