Skulking for a year, first post now! Well I finally pulled the trigger last Thursday - realising that I would be much more productive if I actually bought a Mac Pro rather than spent hours watching MacRumours and worrying it was going to become obsolete.

It should have been shipping 3rd May, today it has just been set back to estimated 16th May. Anybody read anything into that? I think the same thing happened with this ibook a few years ago and it shipped with an improved spec.

What they're supposed to be building btw is: 8-core, 1Gb, x1900t, 1*500gb, bluetooth+airport and a 23" cinema display.

The RAM and SATA drives sat on my desk aren't being very productive on their own...

Any guesses? I'll phone Apple and post any news.

I think it has to do with the ATI video card setting it back a few days. If you build a mac pro now you will see a 11 day jump if you select the ATI card.

11 Day jump for the ATI? I ordered a Mac Pro 3 weeks ago with the ATI card and it only took 2 days longer.

Maybe they had a limited supply of the cards?

To the OP, I would expect no more than what you ordered. Although Apple has shipped more powerful computers than ordered in the past, it does not happen frequently. Orders being pushed back is not uncommon and means nothing significant.

I just ordered my Ocho last week, and it shipped fairly quickly (~3 days). I got it with the stock video card, so that is probably the culprit. Congrats on your purchase! the hardest waiting is now that you have decided to stop waiting, eh? :)

It certainly is. After putting it off for over a year I'm upgrading from a dual 867 windtunnel to a 2.66 Mac Pro. It shipped yesterday and I can't wait!
