Hi,

I have a quicksilver 2002, which will not boot up. When I push the power button this light comes on and goes right off. Any suggestions on the problem?

1.The first thing you can do is trying to reset the PMU. There is a small switch on the logic board board next to the battery that you can press. Wait 10 seconds then try starting the mac again.

2.If that doesn't work, then the battery may be bad. OWC (http://www.macsales.com) sell replacement batteries for $5.

3.If the system still doesn't want to boot, then you might want to try re-seating any PCI/AGP cards you have.

4.Another option is to reseat the processor.

If all of that fails to boot the Mac then you may have a bad processor or logic board.

So you think it is the processor or the MOBO. How can you tell if it's not the power supply? I tried all the resets and still have the same issue. I just don't want to buy a power supply and found out it's the MOBO..

It was suggested that you buy a new battery, not a new power supply. Dead batteries are relatively common on these models, so there's a good chance that a new one will solve your problem.

Well, that's good news, isn't it? I've fixed quite a few "dead" Macs in the past by making a trip to Radio Shack. ;)
