I recently purchased a new iPad mini 5 from Apple, which arrived today.

I used QuickStart to transfer all my data (Apps in folders) from my old iPad 4, both running iOS 14.2.

However almost half of my apps did not transfer, eg Kindle, Apple Books etc.

a.why did this happen

and b. how can I fix this without having to download every single missing app from the App Store.

Thanks

Caroline

This is normal behaviour.

‘App thinning’ (originally brought in with iOS 9) means that different types of devices get slightly different versions of the app dowloaded so whilst the transfer process moves your data the apps always get downloaded again with each move.
