Quicktime 2x speed no sound after 10.10.3

I usually fast forward on 2x speed on some movies/tv shows when I watch in quicktime, just to get through any slow/boring bits, but I can still pick up what's going on.

After updating to 10.10.3, the 2x function in quicktime now cuts the sound which is really annoying. Is there anyway to get the sound to continue playing even when it's on 2x speed?

Currently downloading the 10.10.2 combo update, so if I can't fix this I'm restoring back to the previous version!
