quicktime 7 alternative

I used to love using quicktime 7 to watch videos. It had a lot of options on the fly like adjusting contrast, color, playback speed, pitch etc. Even exporting frames to jpegs was a nice feature. With quicktime plus, a lot of those options are gone. Is there any software similar to the classic quicktime 7 or any work around to get it running on modern macs. I still use it on my old mac in a pinch but that computer cant handle higher res videos. I've tried VLC player but it's ease of use is a low point. Just throwing the feelers out to see if anyone has any advice.

Movist is pretty good. There's no editing functionality though.

Haven't found any either. Whats nice about the old Quicktime you can convert video in different formats and SIZE them to what you want. You can change 480 to 720. Its not up converting but it sure works great when converting to to view on bigger screens.

There is also Eltima’s Elmedia Player. It has a free version on the website and a paid version in the App Store (with extra options). It is certainly a lot more Mac-like than VLC.
