Hi,

I still use Quicktime 7 Pro to quickly snip out parts of videos into stand-alone video files (see workflow below). Does anyone know if the Quicktime Player that comes with Catalina can mark in an out with I and O keys (this is the most significant feature missing from the Trim function of Mojave Quicktime Player)?

When creating multiple clips from one video, it would also be useful to copy a marked selection, and paste it into a new file. This can be done quickly using keyboard shortcuts in QT7 Pro.

If not, is there anything out there that will do that as quickly as QT7, ie not iMovie or FCPX.

Anyone with Catalina able to test this? Can we mark in and out points in Quicktime Player with the I and O keys?

In Mojave it is total pot luck trying to mark these by dragging the yellow bars, even after you have cued it to the exact spot. Am I missing something? Why have Apple made this so difficult?

I don't think QuickTime Player X has ever had the IO key marks. They haven't updated much of it in years, so I wouldn't expect any new functions in Catalina. They want you to use iMovie or Final Cut for these things now.

Unfortunately, QuickTime Player X stripped much of the Pro features out in for the reason above. This is one of my big problems with Apple as of late. No 4:3 option in iMovie is so stupid, I don't care how uncommon it is to use that ratio it should be there.

Hello everyone. Looks like I am just now replying to this QuickTime 7 Pro question but I have not heard (read) anyone mentioning the fact that the Pro version allows you to change the pitch or Key and also the speed in the "Window" and "A/V Controls" which is very important to me anyway. There seems to be no way to do this in QuickTime on my iMac in Mojave version. Any advice or suggestions .... Please!
