Quicktime freezing

I have the base model MBPR 2015 with OS X 10.11.3 installed. I have been having problems with quicktime where the player freezes suddenly. The videos will play but i can not pause or use any of the controls, and i have to force close quicktime in the acctivity monitor. Any thoughts?

All videos. I have checked they are all mp4 h.264. Downloaded or converted using handbrake.
It does not happen often maybe 1 in every 15 video.

Is is specific videos or random? Do the offending videos do it every time? Do the videos that play OK ever do it?

I'm experiencing this same occurrence. Any suggestions what you did to fix it? I'm trying to watch videos I've imported from my iPad and have narrowed it down to Quicktime freezing when I swipe my fingers on trackpad as if to zoom the window.
