I'm downloading some episodes of Smallville with acquisition and it says it's an AVI file, but when I preview the file I either get a white screen that's "playing" or a message saying that the file cannot be read. is there a way I can fix this?

You need to install the proper codecs.

A far better solution would be to download VLC - it's simply the best player out there and will play virtually any and every format, unlike QT.

You probably need to install some kind of codec for .avi files - try this one out. Failing that use VLC as ~Shard~ suggested, which will pretty much play anything. :)
