Hello all,

A new quicktime issue has cropped up on one of my machines, and I am not sure what it could be. I am running OS 10.3.9 with Quicktime 7.0.1. It is a full registered version. For some reason now, I can't play quicktime files through my browsers. For instance movie previews at Apple don't load. When I click on them I get a greyed quicktime logo with a question mark on top of it. Now if I download a quicktime file or create one and play it, they work fine, so it is definetely isolated to my browsers(safari/IE). I don't ever use IE, except to check this problem. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jedda

I had the same problem with my browsers when i migrated to Tiger.

For me, the problem was that for some reason, the quicktime plugin was not installed. This meant that no QT content played through my browser either.

Try to reinstall quicktime. If that doesn't work, PM me your email and i'd be happy to send you a copy of the QT plugin from my system.

It only worked for me when a friend sent a copy.

Good luck.

Did your run Repair Permissions after the installation of Quicktime 7.0.1? It's Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > Repair Permissions. It is always smart to run Repair permissions after an installation.

Soooo...

Just cause I know it was an odd problem, I will post the solution incase anyone was wondering.

It is called a liar for an IT guy in the office. He had filtered quicktime streams to certain machines for "security reasons". Problem is, we are an entertainment company, so quiktime was kinda important. Needless to say, problem solved, thank you everyone who tried to help!
