Quicktime No Longer Supported?

Hello Everyone!

As some of you may know, I will be recieving my first Mac Mini very shortly and just have to know alot of information. I found this great site with lots of OS X Tiger tutorials but they are all in Quicktime. My computer (using Winblows 98 ) which I'd like to watch this tutorials on requires me to download the Winblows version of QT. Now here is where I am confused; If a Win 98 user were to go to Apple's Quicktime download page, it says the Winblows version is only for 2000/XP! I can't believe this injustice since alot of Windows users (I don't know the statistic, but it is high!) still use Windows 98 simply because it gets less problems, worms, viruses than XP and runs faster! Why did Apple stop making QT for Windows 98? Please, if anyone knows, is there some site that still has the QT version for Winblows 98? God, I can't wait to switch to Mac!

I simple google search shows it available for download from Apple.

I think is the Canadian site.

I don't know why people expect Apple to support an OS that is 7 years old. I mean that is ancient history for computers.

Each of those statements is even more true of plain-vanilla DOS (as opposed to DOS-in-Drag, which is about all Windows 9X is)... so why use Windows at all? Windows NT/2000/XP have a slew of underlying improvements and benefits over the Win9X core, and while security is admittedly a joke, the benefits are real. Microsoft no longer supports the Win9x codebase (try and install any new MS products on Win98 and call them when it doesn't work... most state right on the box that you need Win2000 or XP) so why should Apple of all people support it?

The title of this thread is missleading by the way. Where did you see that apple stopped supporting OS X?

Oh! That is strange, every time I went to the QT support site, it only allowed the XP + version... Sorry guys, my fault! Anyway, thanks for your help.

its been over a year though that Microsoft ended supported for anything before XP. even 2000 isnt supported that much

i don't see MS supporting OSX.4 with there newest tech, no new IE( like we would want it ) no WMP,ect!!

Since when was Windows 98 the most stable, least vulnerable of all Windows OSes? From my experience it was only better than 95...

Still 98 is bad, with all the antivirues stuff and SP2 i have trouble thing 98 is still better then XP btu i have not had to care about that cuz i use OSX!!

ugh, and networking with Win9x systems is a major nightmare. Since QT 7 sports a number of internet features, Apple didn't want to bother getting things working with an antiquated OS.

I never touted Windows 98 as a good OS. I was simply answering the guys question.

I believe iTunes 5.0 isn't supported for Windows 98 and generally the Windows installer combines both iTunes and QuickTime but it is possible to download QuickTime by itself which is actually supported.

I don't know about QuickTime 7.0 though, maybe you need a newer OS for 7.0.
