Wonder can anybody help with this. Whenever I open a video file the volume setting in QTP7 is always stuck on maximum (not good on certain high volume tracks).

Surely it should keep what it was set on when you quit the application like iTunes does.

I have tried the reset in A/V controls and tried zapping its preference files.

no go

Tried a google search on this topic and came up with nothing useful.

anybody any ideas

Doesn't work in QT. Not that I know of. You can try just turning down the volume on your system instead. There's no workaround that I know of.

If you have QT Pro, you can press Command+J to bring up the preferences and select the audio track, and you can change the volume in there, and save the file.

Here's to the Crazy Ones

Thanks for that I had a horrible sneaking feeling that there was nothing I could do about it.

Its just certain music videos are recorded at very volume.

If you go into QuickTime Preferences > General and deselect 'Automatically play movies when opened', you'll have a chance to adjust the volume before you start playback.
