Having experienced erratic Mail behavior, all mails are sent in the garbage, i dated in to the genius bar in Basel, Switzerland... since i'm in a wheelchair such dating must be well planned and organized. Arriving a little early, before 16:30h, i was asked to wait a little. This little maxed out to more than 20 minutes and nobody was taken notice (beside asking me 10 times my name).
So i had to ask other clients to help me pack my MBP in its sleeve and in my backpack. By demanding a new date i was answered that i couldn't for i would have a date already ... so i went off with unsolved issues and no clue, what a client is worth in the rather snobbish attitude of them *******s. Instead of getting me a new mini (which i waited 4 long years for) i gonna get me a MS Surface Studio 2 and switch back to Windoze; there i know i'm treated like a zero.

Oh yeah, not the first time, running through a 3 month 2011 MBP video issue marathon, despite a validAppleCare ...

I've not had to make an appointment for many things, but when I have, they always see me on time.

If possible, I would try another Apple location. Doesn't sound like the staff there treat people right.

I used apple products for 25ish years, and for the first 20 years, I don't think I have had to use Apple Support for anything.

I have had to contact Apple Support many, many times in the past 5 years. I have had a mixed experience with Apple Support, some good, some bad, but anytime that I am required to make an appointment with the Apple Store, my experience has been pretty bad.

I know a lot of people like the Apple Store and the Genius Bar, and I wish I could say the same, but sadly, my experience is not good at all.

The worse probably being when my Late 2012 iMac that was under AC had a failing Fusion Drive. It was clear that the drive was failing, but the Apple Store refused to replace it because it was passing their HW diagnostic tests. So, they would wipe the drive, reinstall the OS, only to have the issue pop back up a few weeks later. Another call to Apple Support, another visit to the Apple Store, only to have the same test result.

Eventually, the drive totally failed with 12 days left on my AC warranty, and they finally fixed it.

Trouble is with the heinous bar is they treat you like a dummy by default, cause if you knew anything you wouldn’t be there. Respect is down on their priority’s it seems.

Saying that not all are like that but when you experience it you sure do know it as they kick into robot mode and come across all cold and off.

My early 2011 MBP 17" had this inglorious video issue, despite AC a repair was denied first for not figuring as a warranty subject ... i then passed a 3 month circus on yes and no, sent in, sent back, broken still, diagnosed as ok (with green and rose stripes on the screen, wtf?) and finally returned to me with completely replaced all new parts except for the body and the keyboard. And now i have this Mail issue on a 2015 MBP and "ta ta ta", now the battery starts to blow up, but this time i've been bitta smarter: i got me an extended 4-year dealer (not Apple) warranty that runs until end 2019; an AC would have run out already. But really, i'm pretty close into returning to Windoze, -the MS Surface Studio 2 is a pretty nice machine, MS is guaranteeing schooling and support for 3 years, yummie!

Yes
My first Mac ran Photoshop 1.0 just fine, after I broke the warrantee and upgraded to 512kB.
Now I'm running my Mini one System version back (high sierra), and have a Lenovo (Windows/Linux) sitting right next to it.
I've gotten mostly used to both new OS's + Raspberry. Whatever it is that comes out as an OS at this year's Developer Convention will determine whether I buy another Mac, or deprecate Apple to legacy status after 14 upgrades.
I'd hate to do it, but the sand-boxing and security theater and ever cruddier software and walled garden and enforced cloud is taking quite a toll.

Contact Apple head office and explain what you went through, pretty sure it will get sorted.

OP:

Why don't you tell us in detail a little more about what's wrong with your Mac?

I'll bet you get help here that will be as good as what you could get at an Apple Store.

Two weeks ago i connected two mail addresses, w.s. my @icloud to my Apple main address @bluewin, so the incoming @icloud mail should also show up in the bluewin box. But now instead all incoming mail is deposed on the garbage directly; moving them onto the normal in-box does not help, the next mails end up in the garbage again. Any try to separate them to normal receivings fails, the two boxes seem to be connected for eternity ... AppleStore Basel sucks at the very max, no apologizing for my wasted time and effort yesterday, i'm demanded to get me another date, which is pretty a pita for i got to organize assistance on the place i live ... and after all the 2011MBP circus i endured i don't feel to go on further with Apple.

Good luck with your surface and Windoze. I'm not sure how the Apple Store is in Switzerland but the one by me in the USA is pretty decent. Hopefully the Microsoft store there will treat you better when it comes to support.

How does one “connect” two e-mail addresses?

There's an option to lead an incoming mail X to the account Y (@icloud to @bluewin in that case). With no further action of mine the all now incoming mails were lead to the garbage instantly. Since i've blocked some spam or other undesired mails into garbage, this forces me now to check through it for regular mails again and again...

Ive only used Apple support twice - on both cases they made me wait well beyond my 'appointment' time. I don't get why they make you book a time when they clearly cannot stick to it themselves. When you finally see a 'genius' they treat you like you know nothing about IT - and when I come back to them with some technical terms (I work in IT) they start getting defensive and mumble!

Same play yesterday, since this "we know all about" guy came to grief also and will give it a floor upward next week ... Ok, thank you guys for less than nothing, organizing wheelchair action is a pita, specially for repetitive void results.

You need to have a conversation with my doctor about appointment times. If I'm 15 minutes late I'm late but if he sees me an hour past my appointment time that's perfectly fine

I really hate the thought to go back to Windoze, but Apple's politics in support, model release and its pricing is far off the spirit and doings of Steve Jobs. For my blowing MBP battery Apple claims to step out warranty by not covering "consumables" ... well alright, but meanwhile not only the backplate but the whole case is twisted, the screen comes on aslant to the body and lets a gape in between; and this is definitely no consumable, for replacing the battery the case will not get straight again. I'll have a talk with my lawyer ...

If you have to switch to Windows it means you were never using macOS's most user friendly features such as Labels, Quick Look, thumbnail previews for almost every file type, and super easy color profile management. People who use these regularly can't switch to anything else. It's easy to under estimate these things until you see they either don't exist on Windows or are very rough.

Ha ok. Once we start pulling out the lawyer card over a battery, I think we know all we need to know. Have fun always getting what you want.

Huh, I just switch from Windows (since 3.0) to Mac and there is no way I’m going back. It was a 2 month learning curve. There was cursing involved. But once I figured out how Apple wanted something implemented (photos, creation dates in photo images, sorting in finder, how to drag files in finder, etc) I was able to do things faster in MacOS than Windows. Plus the memory leaks in Windows made it simply unusable. The hardware is way overpriced but seems to work once you figure out the quirks.

If the Apple Store doesn't deliver satisfying service, I would try an authorized reseller. You could try Data Quest in Basel.
Usually, though, Apple themselves offer the cheapest service i.e. DQ might want to see money for services rendered.
You can give them a call (and ask about handicapped access...).

The only time I ever needed something from the Apple Store (Zurich), apart from buying something there, was this 5W charger-exchange thing a couple of years ago. It was very efficiently handled.

As for the Store - the on in Zurich can be a circus when it's busy. Having to work there probably makes you numb and half-deaf in a short while or else you'd go insane. Have mercy with the staff.
When I was there the last time (just looking, asking some questions), somebody was playing music on one of those external speakers at almost full tilt - just a few meters from us). The staffer rolled her eyes and dialed it back a few notches so we could actually continue our conversation....
