Rosetta 2 somehow slows down the i/o. Also Escoufier's method is extremely slow. The are some benchmarks that are faster in the base MBA though.

Odd about that one very slow mark. Is your Air still running the usual indexing and such in the background?

You can tell what's running in the background by checking Activity Monitor. But it probably wouldn't account for that one odd result.
