I have two (kinda old) Samsung monitors that have only DVI and full-size DP inputs.
I have tried two different cables but nothing seems to work.
For some reason, the 2019 Mac Pro doesn't want to convert the HDMI signal into DP.
I tried an HDMI monitor and it works fine... But I need those two monitors to work...
Any suggestions?
Am I missing anything?

Thanks.

Maybe this might help. Works in my 4.1>5,1 RX 580 8gb - DP to HDMI.

HDMI from 7,1 to active adapter - DP to DP cable then to monitor's DP port.

( PS : Also gives me HDMI audio without any 3rd. party kexts - probably doesn't apply to the 7,1 )

OP's desire is to go the other way though - HDMI to DP. These adapters and cables often are one-way only... in this case, DP to HDMI.

Something like this - HDMI to DisplayPort Adapter - 4K 30Hz - would be what is needed. Alternative that might be cheaper would be to use a HDMI to DVI converter or cable.

This cable worked for my older Dell monitors (1920x1200) that similarly only have DVI and Displayport inputs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D6RL3VN

My dell monitor is connected to display port but I'm using a Caldigit TB3+ dock and a TB to DP port cable. MacPro's TB -> Caldigit -> Display's DP.

Thanks guys!
Yeah, I had two HDMI to DP cables but as mentioned before I guess they were more DP to HDMI,
So I tried two regular HDMI cables with the aforementioned DP to HDMI adapter but it's a no go too...
So I'm currently waiting on these: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00B2HORS6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It sucks to go DVI again, but it's cheaper than replacing two 27'' monitors, and honestly, I'm not doing anything fancy with 4k or video or anything like that so I should be ok.

Interesting findings though!!
Thanks again! Much appreciated!

Well at least people in this thread are thinking about options, solutions.
I'm not really much help as I don't have a 7,1 (yet).
