I'm looking for an external drive (Firewire 800) to go with my 24" iMac. I live in the UK and want a RAID-1 system because a LaCie d2 just 'died' on me a while back. (It's a tad worrying when your backup drive crashes.)
I've looked at Formac, LaCie, Maxtor, and Freecom drives but each has its detractors or drawbacks. Ideally, the drives should be user-replaceable. Reliability and compatibility with Leopard are also essential.
The data that I wish to archive comprise personal and business files as well as photos that have considerable 'sentimental' value. I may also archive the OS, once I gain more experience.
As I'm new to the world of Macs, I'd value the advice of seasoned users. Thank you in advance.
