I just recently purchased an iPhone 8, so I also bought a case for it.

But when I slapped on the case, rainbow marks started appearing on the glass back? I would assume that it’s from the pressure of the case.

Will this destroy the phone or damage it? Because if it will, I’ll purchase a new case.

Is it a clear case on the back?? It won't hurt anything, but there are better cases that don't press on the back like that.

As you said, it's likely pressure from the case against the glass, so the light is refracting off, showing that rainbow look to it. I would opt for a different case if you think it's not suitable for the iPhone.
