Ram configuration?

Mac Pro early 2008. El Capitan.

I was running 10 GB RAM, now I am seeing 6GB in About This Mac>System Info>Memory
That 10GB was -- 2/GBx4 & 1GBx2
So looks like I have some faulty RAM namely 2 sticks of 2GB

I installed this aforementioned RAM properly as far as configuration across the 2 risers, but it was a long time ago & I'm very rusty as to what the proper configuration would be once I remove the 2 bad 2GB sticks.

What I have now is 2x2GB & 2x1GB sticks
6GB total

I would like to avoid buying any more RAM at the moment & just use what I have

What I need help with is figuring out how to install the remaining sticks in the proper configuration

I don't know if it's possible with this exact collection of RAM but please advise

Install 1x2GB on the first slot, 1x1GB on the second. Repeat the same with the other riser.

Actually the ram on an early 2008 Mac Pro needs to be installed in pairs, so the configuration you suggest wouldn't work, but thanks

Right now I have 1 pair of 2GB on one riser, & 1 pair of 1 GB on the other. Seems to be working fine for the last 24 hours.
