This is an answer I'd like to know. I bought mine with the base 8GB (screw Apple's overpriced RAM) and decided to buy 2 x 16GB from Crucial. I did that so I can run 40GB now and then have scope to upgrade to 64GB more economically in the future should I want to. I don't think there will be anything wrong with this as I understand they work in pairs.

I am planning to do this as well. Hope it works fine with this configuration. :)

Mine should arrive on Monday, and I'll install then so I'll come back and let you know. I'm just hoping the speed remains the same with the Crucial RAM on board.

All works well. All RAM recognised as 2400MHz. :)

Which exact set did you buy? Crucial lists two different models now, one is branded 'for mac' but it's unclear if it's actually any different or better for iMacs.
