I've got a 1.5GHz 15" PB and I installed an additional 512MB of RAM from crucial shortly after I got it (last summer) and I recently noticed that in the system profiler it's only reporting one 512 stick. Interestingly enough the one it's showing is in the upper slot, the lower one is reportedly empty, which is where the apple stick was. I haven't been able to open up the RAM door to see if it's seated correctly, (I don't have the right size screwdriver) but I was wondering if anyone here knew why it might have disappeared, and what problems this could point to. What kind of problems are common related to disappearing RAM on a PB? Thanks for your help.

Well, I fit the symptoms, but my Serial number is just after the designated range. Will they still fix it? Or is it likely a different problem?

i had the same problem with my powerbook last week. turns out my serial number was not in the designated range. but that didn't matter seeing as how the computer comes with a one year warranty. sure enough, i called apple, and they shipped a box to my house (california to maine in less than 12 hours). sent it to apple where they replaced the logic board, had it back at my house less than four days after i’d sent it. all for free. if you purchased your powerbook last summer, it should still be under warranty. apple is obviously quite familiar with this problem right now and seems very eager to see it resolved. so my advice would be to give them a call. best of luck. :)

p.s. i like the radiohead reference.
