Ram has dissapeared

I installed 512 new ram to my ibook and it was great, but then slowed down . When I looked at the profiler it said the ram was not there, that the slot was empty. Any thoughts to what happed/ I have taken it out and put back in several times with the sam eresult, empty slot.

You don't have it seated in all the way. You have to push hard enough to where you are worried about breaking something.

Slide it in at a 45-degree angle HARD, and then snap it in.

Yes you do have to push rather hard, I had the same problem with my Powerbook. It took a few attempts to get it to recognise the new memory.
