Well I realized a long time ago I needed more speed on my iMac G5 2.1 20" (isight) but haven't been able to find a good deal for a 2 GB finally last week I bought for $90.00 a 2GB of DDR2 PC2-4200 533MHz from an online dealer.

Unexpectedly I received the new RAM today and after playing with it trying to get it installed correctly ( need to push hard to get it in place) I was able to install it, I tested the RAM to make sure it was fine, boot-up was fine speed improvement was noticeable better ( haven't tested it in real work conditions ) but the new MEMORY shows (in System Profiler) as PC2-3200U-288 under the speed heading instead of showing PC2-4200 533 Is this right for a supposed DDR2 PC2-4200 533 ?

Can SOMEONE PLEASE help? is this a problem? is the speed differences NOTICEABLE? Did I get rip off ( Mean bought something and got something else.?

Please help.

It is not correct; however there could be 2 reasons -- the RAM could be running too slow, or the RAM is running at the correct speed but the SPD (Serial Presence Detect) settings are improperly programmed. What you see in System Profiler is not a test of the RAMs performance, just a display of what the RAM's SPD chip REPORTS to the Mac.
