Well I realized a long time ago I needed more speed on my iMac G5 2.1 20" (isight) but haven't been able to find a good deal for a 2 GB finally last week I bought for $90.00 a 2GB of DDR2 PC2-4200 533MHz from an online dealer.
Unexpectedly I received the new RAM today and after playing with it trying to get it installed correctly ( need to push hard to get it in place) I was able to install it, I tested the RAM to make sure it was fine, boot-up was fine speed improvement was noticeable better ( haven't tested it in real work conditions ) but the new MEMORY shows (in System Profiler) as PC2-3200U-288 under the speed heading instead of showing PC2-4200 533 Is this right for a supposed DDR2 PC2-4200 533 ?
Can SOMEONE PLEASE help? is this a problem? is the speed differences NOTICEABLE? Did I get rip off ( Mean bought something and got something else.?
Please help.
