Hello,

I have just bought the new iMac with 4GB ram. I would like to upgrade this to either 12 GB or 16 GB. I have read a lot about RAM on this forum and found that both OWC RAM from http://eshop.macsales.com and RAM from Newegg should be perfect. The prices are tempting but as I live in Europe, I will have to pay a high amount of toll because it is sent from U.S.

Does anyone know a reliable seller in the U.K. (or other European countries) with reasonable prices?

Buy 8 (2x4) now as it is reasonably priced. In the future, if you actually need it, you can buy another 8 when prices will be way better and you will have your 16.

In all likelyhood you don't really need any more than 4 GB! :) What makes you think you need an extra 8 or even 12 GB?

Great question. 4 may be borderline for some, but I suspect few people require more than 8GB. I'd go for the smaller upgrade if you feel you need it.

You could be right :$ Maybe I should take a look on how much RAM i use now but 4 GB just sounds as too few in my ears. Also, RAM have got quite affordable so it seemed a no-brainer not to upgrade it :D

That's a good point. Also, as getting 16 GB is double the price compared to a total of 12 GB, going for 8 GB (total of 12) seems to be the smartest thing to do.

Always used crucial for ram upgrades, never had any issues. Usually fairly quick to send it out too!

Awesome!

Upgrading to 12 GB seems to be a smaller upgrade is it's not that pricey :)
