I was just wondering how many slots the iMac has. I guess 2 but want to make sure.

Also could someone please give a definite say as to whether or not there is actually going to be an iMac hardware update within the next half-a-year

Carlos

Hey.

RAM Bays

The iMacs have two RAM slots underneath the centre base of the screen as shown below.

Its really easy to upgrade, just pull them out. iMacs can hold up to 4GB RAM, 2 x 2GB each slot.

Will there be an update coming?.....

Yes, Apple update their products on a regular basis, usually intel pushing their next latest and greatest new cpus. Check the Buyers Guide for more info.

According to rumors the next update to the iMac could out be this Tuesday to push out the Penryn Intel chip into the iMacs just like the Mac Books/Mac Book Pros

Or Apple might hold off and more likely to upgrade in June to coinside with the Montevina Intel chip release. As the Penryn update does not hold any significant boost in performance, the chip is just more energy efficient.

If you are thinking about buying a iMac and dont mind holding out until Motevina id say hold out as the upgrade would be a significant one and better for your $$$$ but if you want one now you should go for it. Both models are top notch and 4GB or RAM is dead cheap on non Apple websites:D....Just wait until Tuesday before ordering;)
