i just purchased a new iMac 3.06 today. i was planning on putting the stock RAM (2GB) that comes in the iMac into my MacBook, and putting third-party RAM (4GB) into the iMac. However now that the frequency of the RAM is 800Mhz instead of 667MHz i don't know if i can. Does anyone know if i can put 800MHz RAM into my MacBook that supports 667Mhz? i'm not expecting it to run at 800Mhz in the MacBook even though that is the RAMs frequency, but will it run at 667MHz or is that a compatibility issue that won't work? thanks!

thanks Eidorian, i did see that post. but it seems like in that post they were talking about putting 667Mhz RAM into a brand new iMac (800MHz capability). I was asking about the opposite . . . putting 800MHz RAM into a 667MHz MacBook, anyone have an idea?

Stick with the 667 MHz RAM. The DDR2-800 ones have had problems downlocking to 667 on Penryn based Macs with a 667 MHz memory bus.
