I just bought 4 new sticks of RAM tonight. After a kernel panic I ran Rember to test the sticks and see if they were causing a problem. It immediately came up with 2 problems. Does anyone know what it means? Should I return the RAM ASAP?

Stuck Address: FAILURE: possible bad address line at offset 0x1d9ac488

Solid Bits: FAILURE: 0xfffffffff != oxfffffffd at offset 0x0e8c0170

Everything else came up "ok." If one or more of the sticks is bad, is there a way to tell which one from this info, or must I run the rest on 1 stick at a time to find out? Also, is there a way, besides Apple Hardware Test, to find out if maybe the problem is with a RAM slot, and not with the stick?

Thanks for all you help. :)

Oh dear! Does indeed sound like bad RAM to me, though I couldn't tell you anything more specific than that!
Try installing them 1 pair at a time, and running the tests to identify the culprit!

Run apple Hardware test off the boot DVD/CD that came with your Mac (put the disc in, start the mac whilst holding down the option(alt) key and select hardware test from the menu) This will tell you which slot the faulty RAM is in. A stick in my PB died a few months ago, i ran the hardware test and it said that the RAM in the lower DIMM was dead....easy

Hope the RAM is from a company with a good guaranty. Good Luck!
