Hey Guys,

just pimped my 2008 8core MacPRo with a SSD and a new Graphics Card (5770). I wann get a new one in January 2013 for Business Reasons, so I will use this one for another Year.

Is it worth it to Upgrade from 8GB Ram to 16GB?

Please don't "assume" here, just write if you upgraded from 8 to 16 and did (or did not) notice a big Difference. And my how that Difference Manifests.

Im running Lion, Main Programms Premiere Pro CS 5,5 and Logic Pro 9,16 (Both 64bit)

Thanks everybody!
Bernd.

You wont notice any difference if you don't currently use ALL the 8GB you have and swap out to the hard drive all the time. Memory does not make your current Mac faster (not sure why users think this). It makes it go the same speed longer.

Yes, you will see a difference.

If you have software that will use all memory thrown at it, it will lower the amount of swapping.

If your software can't use it all (32-bit programs), then you can keep more programs open before you hit the swap file.

I have 22 GB of ram. While running Poser, Word, iTunes, Acrobat (not reader), Firefox, I have a swap file of 9mb, & 11 Gb free for rendering in Vue.

In Jan, I'll be moving up to 28 Gb of ram.
