Have a mac pro 4,1 updated to 5,1. It is a 12 core x5670 2.93ghz Westmere. Im not sure what ram is in it now, but found someone selling 32gb (4x8gb)
PC3-8500R-07--10-N0-D2 from samsung and wondering if that would work for my upgrade. not sure the max ram for the machine is.

The spec on the ram says server memory.

It looks OK to me, can't see why it won't work.

A dual XEON 5,1 should able to take 8x16G RAM, that means the max is 128G for your system (if you have the latest OSX)

OK thanks. it's been a while since i did ram upgrades so wasnt sure if specs have changed etc. but thanks for clarifying. I already have 10gb on there. but might remove them since im getting 4 x 8gb.
