Ram upgrade for my imac 21.5 questions

So i have an imac 21.5 inch. Its the late 2009 one i believe... its got 3.06 c2d and ati 4670 with 4 gigs of ram. i think the ram r 1066 mhz. anyways. I wanted to upgrade it.. by sticking 2 more stick of ram in it... would if be possible to stick 2 more 4 gig stick ram in it? making my computer have 12 gigs of ram? or do all the ram have to be the same thing?. also.. i was looking at the ram on newegg and stuff... they had timing of 7-7-7... not sure waht that means.. so i was just wondering what i need to know about the ram upgrading and what factors i need to look at when i buy so that i dont make a of sticking the wrong type of ram in my computer.

also, would the apple store stick in the ram for me if i bought it elsewhere?

It's so easy, no need at all to go to the apple store. Just follow the instructions in your user manual. Takes 5 minutes to do it.

I just upgraded my new 27" to 12GB. I used NuRam memory. You can get it from macsales.com.

No problems so far.....by the way it doesn't matter if you mix 2GB and 4GB memory. But I guess it is recommended to use them in matching pairs.

Go to www.crucial.com and look up your computer model. They sell memory for specific models, so you don't risk buying the wrong memory. They'll also tell you how much memory will fit. 21.5" might have only two slots.

21.5" might have only two slots.

It has four slots. Usually supplied with 4GB. You can instal up to a total of 16GB.

Just for info - Crucial 8GB kit for latest iMacs (2 x 4GB) was £193 on Monday, it's just dropped to £123, £61.50 per 4GB chip.

Good spot Jim, that's a fair chunk cheaper than similar RAM I've been looking at on Aria.
