RAM upgrade question

Hi folks,
I need some advice regarding upgrading the RAM in my two Core 2 Duo Macbooks.

I currently have:
Macbook A: 1GB x 2 of PC5300 RAM = total of 2 GB
Macbook B: 512MB x 2 of PC5300 RAM = total of 1 GB


I want to buy this:

I should be able to take the 1GB sticks from Macbook A and the newly bought 2GB sticks from FRY's and give each Macbook a total of 3GB right?

Is OCZ a good RAM company?

Is the $150 cost (after rebate) a good price?

I realize I will have to pretty much junk the 2x512MB sticks from Macbook B. Thanks for your input.

I was told by a few people that OCZ is a good high performance RAM. I ordered the 4gb OCZ kit with the rebate and it's supposedly in shipping right now. I hope to see it by the end of next week. I think it should be fine, but I'm no expert at RAM.
 
"High performance" is meaningless when it comes to Intel Mac RAM -- the RAM has to be 667 MHz DDR2 and no other specification. The fact that OCZ and Corsair make 'overclocker' RAM for the PC market doesn't really figure into their RAM's desirability for the Macs, because these are regular, standard generic DDR2-667 SODIMMs.

OCZ is a reputable company. There have been posts of the OCZ RAM not working on arrival, but I don't know whether the incidence of that is within the normal DOA % that you would expect from any brand.


The plan of bringing each machine to 3 Gb is workable, yes.

i use a lot of OCZ ram and ive never had a stick come to me DOA
