I have just thrown an extra 512Mb into my 20" iMAC to take it upto 1Gb.
I dont really do anything serious on it, just safari, mail, itunes (admittedly with a quite large database), flash8, iPhoto and a highly recommended app called "clutter" . But you can really tell the differnce it's got loads more zip !! If anyone is wondering if it will help, just buy it !! I got mine from Crucial only about £35 quid.

I made the jump from 512 to 1.25gb on my Powerbook. That was by far the best $120 I've spent in a while. :D

Does anyone know if the current PBs have 2x256 or 1x512? Hopefully the new Intel PBs will have either 1x512 or 2x512, making it easier to upgrade to 1-1.5GB. You really need 1GB to run OSX with a reasonable number of apps open at the same time.

The 12" PB has 2x256, 1 Built in and one in the expansion bay. The 15" and 17" inch have 1x512 Built in.
