I have 1GB stick and activity monitor is showing this:
I was wondering if this is an unusually large amount of Page Ins/Outs or VM Size.

Have you ever had any pageouts at all? That's an insane amount of RAM. I can remember back in like 2000 thinking that 96MB was a lot. :D

perhaps you got stuck somewhere in 2k......:D

even in '99 when I got my B&W, 128mb was the least amount of ram you could order from the apple store, and shortly thereafter when OS 9 came around, I was glad I had that much. And when OS X came out, 128mb was peeweewee too little :p

Nowadays, 1GB is quickly becoming the minimum !

Yeah, if I have a wickedly heavy batch day with Photoshop I will get a few, but not in general.

I don't know what posessed me. Seriously.

But yeah, isn't it funny how a GB of RAM is like standard measure now?

:D Yep, it's very weird. I can remember using my friend's old Compaq back in like '98 with only 64MB of RAM and not experiencing any slowdown that I can remember. Crazy stuff. Also, the price of RAM has changed so much. I've got all kinds of old Mac Addicts and it's crazy how much people were paying for like 64MB back then. Insane. I'm about to upgrade my Power Mac to 2GB and it's only gonna cost like $150. Back in 2000, it was $249 for a 128MB stick of PC100.
