Using the Leopard contacts program, I've entered in about 70 contacts. 11 of them won't sync with my iPhone, and this problem seems to be completely at random -- a few of the contacts that won't sync I entered in a couple days ago, a few today. I just noticed the problem this evening.

Can anybody offer any advice or help as to why this is happening, and how they corrected it?

using iTunes 7.6 and firmware 1.1.3. No mods to the phone, it's brand new.

thanks!
Mark

Here's a thought:

Try setting up all of the contacts you want synced into a separate group in Address Book and then setting it up in iTunes so only that group is synced with the phone.

The Solution

I spent over an hour and a half on the phone with AppleCare, and we have a solution, which I will share with you. It solved my problem, and hopefully it fixes it for you guys.

Go to /Applications/iSync
Open iSync
>iSync>Preferences>Reset Sync History

Once you have reset the sync history, this should give you a clean sync which results in 100% of your contacts getting synced. Note that we never figured out the root cause of WHY this problem was happening, but we did figure out the fix. The problem has yet to reoccur for me (knock on wood!)

Above all else, kudos to AppleCare for their professionalism and patience -- four people helped: first the standard AppleCare rep. Then, she transferred the case to a product specialist; he was thoroughly knowledgeable, and when he ran to the edge of his knowledge envelope, he interfaced with Level II support. The Level II guy wound up talking to one more person. Try getting this help from Dell, HP, or Microsoft.

Please post your results on this thread. Best of luck to all!

regards,
Mark
