Hi everyone. I wanted to get your opinion and also see if anyone has experienced something similar.

I have a launch day iPhone 16 Pro Max. I have experienced a crashing issue twice, both I believe were on iOS 18.1.

1. Using the clean-up tool in the Photos app a few weeks ago.
2. Last night, while browsing text messages

What happens is the screen suddenly goes dark and I see the little spinning gear in the very center of the screen, and then it kicks me to the lock screen. So, it doesn't appear to be fully restarting....it's almost like a soft crash to the lock screen.

It seems to be similar to what this person is experiencing, but they're on a 14 Pro series:
I just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this type of behavior?

Thank you very much for your time and I hope you are having a nice day.

This has happened twice to me on my 15 Pro. I’m also on 18.1, so I’m wondering if it is software related since I didn’t experience this with 18.0.1.

Both instances happened when I was listening to a podcast. Oddly enough, the audio still plays via my AirPods, so there is no interruption. Still odd though. I may go on the 18.2 PB to see if I experience the same thing.
