A few weeks ago, my first gen 15" macbook pro would just randomly die on me. I first noticed it on battery power only, so i thought maybe my battery came loose and just shut the thing down on me. But it happened once or twice on A/C power as well. Since then though, it has not happened at all, and it's been a good 3 or 4 weeks. So I don't know what the deal was. Part of me would like to take it into Apple to have it cared for before my warranty expires, but I keep thinking I don't even know that I have an issue to express to him if I can't get it to happen again. What they heck would they even start doing? I've had the logic board in this thing replaced once already. not sure I want to do it again. And my local mac genius hates me already for knowing more than him.
and for a follow up question, do i really have to give my password to them when I drop it off? Can't they verify things without loading my OS? If so, I guess I'll set up a user specially for the mac genius so I don't have to give him my user password.
