hey everybody.

i was confronted with this question yesterday. windows has this option "random hardware address".

i believe this makes it harder for people to track your location when you connect to different wifi networks.

is there anything similar on the mac side? any expertise would help. thanks.

ps: i am not sure if this is the right place, if not, please advice. thank you.

There's https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211227 when it comes to iOS/iPadOS/watchOS.

In addition to what C DM said, you can manually modify your MAC address through Terminal on a Mac.

However, it's not really about tracking your location - It's more about identifying your computer on a specific network. I honestly wouldn't really worry about it if I were you :)

unless you don't trust people on your network, which probably says you have bigger problems.

if it's available for iOS and watchOS, perhaps Apple will make it available for Mac when they move to Apple Silicon.
