got my 20 inch imac yesterday, when i drag files from one folder to another, or the desktop, random lines going all the way across the screen flash and the logos of the files im dragging flash all over the screen. when i am on the web, and i scroll down, the lines show up again. called apple and after an hour of testing everything and not finding an answer , told me to bring it to an apple store.


any ideas?

It's a known problem, and Apple is preparing a patch for it.

Go under "About this Mac" and click on "Version 10.4.4, and it should say you have build 8G1171. That's a flawed build, somehow, and they're gonna try and fix it. I would hold off on taking it in to the store for now. You can run your Mac with thousands of colors instead of millions and that should take care of the problem for right now.

Everyone who has the issues seem to have 256MB VRAM 20-inch.

However, I have a 17-inch, and I *think* I see some video tearing, when playing H264. Anyone heard of this? Maybe it's just the source.

yea thats what i have, also when im on a web page, and scroll down and stop, then keep scrolling, all the text is cut in half on the page and distorted, untill i rescroll over it.

i got the new patch and it didnt help it at all
