Random, Mysterious .sxx files

Yesterday I set my external USB traveldrive as a secondary home folder, and strange files called settings.sxx and presence.sxx are appearing there. I've searched for information about them on the internet, but no one is quite sure what they are from. It seems like they have something to do with flash, but I've been using flash for ages and I've never seen them before. Does anyone have any ideas?

Also, these files are nowhere to be found in Macintosh HD, but in Macintosh HD there is a file called Viewpoint.log

Have you accidently be redirected to any...special websites?

Have you downloaded anything using some sort of P2P.

I somehow had the idea that .sxx files were tracking files used by some windows media codec decoders. You think they are associated with Flash, and perhaps they are now. I think it has to do with an nonstandard kind of cookie. Sometimes movies in QT can push Safari (and other browsers) to load a web page or start an automatic download that is never completed. Is any of this possible you think?

I'm not using Linux, and I'm not sure what you call "weird" I guess I did recently install a bunch of random image apps, including GIMP, which is a Linux application. Yeah, I have used P2P, but only for a few MP3 files. But the other things, I'm not quite sure about. I don't watch a lot of movies, because my iMac is 350 Mhz and they really don't... play. Thanks for the help.

I guess the weirdest thing is that there were other people asking questions about this for Mac on the net, but no one has any answers.

I'm jumping on you. Often here, you will see people ask questions to better get answers. I was trying to get better info. I use the term "weird" to skirt around an issue embarrassing to some, p 0 r n. Some sites have specific codeics, for lets say .AVIs. Some of these codecs, mostly for windows, allow the media to push other content onto computers. This is often found with pay-for sites, or "free" sites.

You searched as well as I did, and found that .sxx files seem to be associated with either Macromedia Flash 8, or a company that designs media codecs. I asked the questions so that I could better look at resources to help you.

This sucks for you, and others. I just searched my computer, after setting my system to show hidden files, and I didn't find any .sxx files.

Oh! Ha ha... no, none of that. I opened one of the files, and I found a link to a server or something on this site: http://www.userplane.com But I've never even heard of it.
