I would appreciate your help with the following problem. It seems that AnyConnect Client software 3.1.100.10 that my university uses for VPN causes random reboots on my MacBook Pro running Sierra OS. Here's a few lines from the system.log just prior to a recent reboot:

Feb 5 15:15:23 VMrMBP17 acvpnagent[43]: Function: getInterfaces File: ../../vpn/Common/Utility/NetInterface_unix.cpp Line: 1330 missing PPP destination address for interface "utun6". Check profile PPPExclusion (set to Automatic?) or contact your administrator.

Feb 5 15:15:26 VMrMBP17 diagnosticd[236]: Streaming server Unresponsive

Feb 5 15:15:26 VMrMBP17 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.xpc.launchd.domain.system): System reboot initiated by: eoshostd.192<-launchd.1

In addition to reboots, I'm also experiencing problems when switching user accounts: the system sometimes would just logout all users from the Mac. The system.log file is filled with VPN error messages. I'm wondering if it's a know problem and if there is a solution.

Thanks

It seems that Cisco is not the problem after all. I removed Cisco AnyConnect, but the computer continues to experience kernel panics. This time there was a panic log. This is a 2016 MacBook Pro:

Yes, I tried hardware diagnostics- it did not detect any problems. I also took the computer to an Apple Store where they ran some tests - again no issues.

Re external devices - there is an external drive on the network, which I use for Time Machine backups. It's attached via USB to a Time Capsule. Is there something in the log about eternal devices?

Thanks

The problem seems to be in the ACPI driver. At this point it is probably just guesswork. I did a quick web search and there is surprisingly little to find about the error message, suggesting that this is a novel problem. The results I found all concern the 2016 MacBook Pro.

Thanks, this is very helpful. I have now erased the drive on my Mac and re-installed OS without importing any data from my old backup. This was suggested by an AppleCare agent as the next step. But it seems that to reproduce the problem, I have to have to run Time Machine and backup to the same USB drive I've been using prior to erasing the Mac. Unfortunately, Time Machine wants to re-use the old backup instead of starting a new one.
