I got my Macbook back in April/May '07 and it's been running very well and I've had no issues with it.

Well today I went upstairs to check my email to find my screen had random lines running down it, the screen was garbled and the computer was frozen. I held the power button, it turned off, i hit it to turn it back on and the screen stayed blank a little while more than usual.

It's odd cause that has never happened to me before and now I appear to be having a random restarting issue. I left my macbook on my desk and when i came back it was at the login screen and when i was using it earlier it restarted it self in-front of me (Never happened before).

What may be causing this? I have ran the Hardware Test on my disk included with my Macbook and it seems to think nothing is wrong with it; did both one of the quick tests and one of the long tests.

Should I be worried?

should you be worried? yes. call apple. do you have applecare?
No, I went through Future Shop in Canada and bought their "Product Service Plan".

So I've determined that when I pick up my macbook from the right hand bottom corner while it is on the screen does that thing and then it restarts....uhhhhhh

So I ran the Hardware Tests off the disk included with my macbook and it said everything was fine (Did the complete test that took 1hr+)

But now this morning when I went to go wake it up after putting it to sleep like 15-30 minutes ago I got nothing on the screen; I heard the Superdrive make a noise (as normal) but nothing came up on the screen. So i held the power button and the light on the front went off. I then turned it back on, the screen flashed, the superdrive made a noise, the light on the front lit up, but no Apple sound or display. I tried this over and over again and it finally the screen came up.

I want to delay calling Apple as much as I can hoping this issue is repairable by myself.

Any suggestions about what is going on? I'm a bit scared.

Just get it repaired.

I took it into my work and sat down with one of the techs and someone from the computer dept and took a look at it. He took the battery out, held the power button, put it back in and turned on. He was glad to see it fixed but i knew that couldn't be it.

I picked i up while it was on and it instantly restarted (which it had been doing this weekend). His face went blank, i put it back down on the counter after it finished starting up, picked it up again (might I add carefully from the bottom with two hands) and BAM, the whole thing just shut down and it won't restart even after reseting the Power Manager and the PRAM & NVRAM (Which i can't do really cause the screen won't even turn on).

He suspects it's more than likely a video card failure or the logic board has gone.

I tried to call apple before class but their lines are all busy so I will call them after class.

Arg.......I'm less than amused
