I distinctly recall previous versions of iTunes letting users tweak the random settings, to tell it how scattered we would want songs by a specific artist, or from a specific genre, etc. I can't find this anymore. It used to be in the Preferences menu, but there's nothing about the random settings there now.

If I recall correctly, they invented the setting because people were percieving iTunes to be not random enough.

So they decided to make it less random to make it appear more random.

I guess they found out the world is strange enough without such decisions and they erased that possibilty. :) IIRC since iTunes 9.
