i got the replacement of my MB one month ago due to the random shut down problem. the symptom before the replacement was not only random shut down but also that the MB could not be turned on once a while.

now it's been one month after i got the replacement from apple store, there is no randon shutdown at all, but when i got up this morning, i couldn't turn it on. i tried several times, but it just turned out to be dead. any suggestion about what i'm supposed to do? shall i ask for a refund or a replacement? i'm just afraid of that i would get a defect model again.

They solved the issue around 9/25/06... so if your book was replaced/repaired before then you'll likely have the problem again. If you send it in they should fix it with the new Heatsink.

anyone think apple will give refund or replace it with a new model when this model is discontinued? (when new models are coming out, my model the most basic model, so prob. will be discontinued right away when mb line is updated)

Asking for a refund or replacement usually takes a very firm and consistent approach because it's the last thing Apple will do for you. If you decide to head that direction, make sure you bring your drama and acting 101 with you. Otherwise they'll just knock you around and never get anything done for you.

I don't think a replacement is in order. They fixed the issue and they're offering to fix it free of charge.

I just had my HEAT SINK replaced and the computer was delivered yesterday evening by fedex and today it has shut off twice. Fixing the heat sink did nothing. This is now the third time and they are replacing the computer for me. Good luck
