Through my cable company (Xfinity) they have a $300 rebate offer on iPhones. Looking to get one as a backup or upgrade a family member. After buying the phone outright and after taxes, 2 months of their cheapest service fees, and the $300 back, the net totals for each come out per below.

  1. $80: iPhone SE 32gb
  2. $186: iPhone 7 32gb
  3. $313: iPhone 7+ 32gb
  4. $345: iPhone 8 64gb
  5. $451: iPhone 8+ 64gb
Of these 5 specific models and sizes, how would you rank them (best deal to worst)? Thanks
 
XR 64GB vs. the 8 or 8+ ? I've been thinking that might be a better option vs. an 8/8+, physically bigger display in a smaller than Plus FF, A12, FID V2, I guess the camera might be better vs. the 8, but not quite as good as the two lens config on the Plus[?]

Should only be $49 more vs. the same capacity 8+.

Assuming you don't need to do this immediately and can wait for the XR (10/19 pre-order).
 
My opinion, listed best to worst deal.

iPhone 7
iPhone 8
iPhone 7+
iPhone 8+
iPhone SE

I am partial to the 4.7" form factor. The iPhone 7 is a stellar deal at $186 if you can get away with 32GB. If not I would choose the 8. The SE is a solid device, but IMO the 2015 A9 SOC will likely begin to show its age soon, especially now that Apple no longer sells any devices with that chip.
 
To be honest, they're already ranked from worst to best for me. I don't get why some people prefer the 7 instead of 8.
 
As a backup phone? As someone said above....cheapest to most expensive
SE is a great backup phone and has battery life that rivals the 7 plus

For nearly double the price, the 8 doesn't offer much over the 7.

Many consumers can't take advantage of the last two.

The SE isn’t even available from the website for me.

Thank you all for your replies! I agree with both viewpoint on the "best" deals as well as for backup. Ultimately, I went with ordering an SE as a backup. Says on backorder until 9/25, but was able to place the order and hope to have by the end of this week. I know I'll have to wait for the unlock and rebate, but in the end, about $80 for a backup is well worth it. Thanks!
