bored at work at my desk, so I’d like to start a discussion WALL O TEXT ALERT

What’s with the huge arguing if using android device vs Apple? I never understood this. If you prefer one device over another, what’s the point in bashing someone else’s choice? Here’s some background on my phones throughout the years, this will go in order from when I had the device

Moto Krzr: first phone in 8th grade, awesome device, I got the red one for Christmas. I loved that damn thing. Everyone had the Razr and i was the only kid with the Krzr. It definitely turned some heads

EnV 3: ah the old physical keyboards on phones , my high school self could type on that thing for days.

HTC Thunderbolt : the first LTE capable phone. Anyone remember when LTE first came out and it was only in the cities? I live in Delaware so i was still stuck on 3G. I remember goung to Pittsburgh and being blown away with the speeds of the phone. It was shocking and I was excited to see where smartphones were going.

IPhone 5: first iPhone I’ve owned. I had an iPod Touch, but now I didn’t need it anymore. I thought FaceTime was awesome, iMessage was cool and there were always apps that came out of iOS first compared to the android market.

Galaxy s4: Got tired of not many customization options for the iPhone so i traded with a friend and got the s4. Man touch wiz was so unecessary in my opinion. Made things slower after time. But I was having fun rooting the device and playing roms. Dropped the phone on hardwood floor and it cracked :(

Droid Ultra: bought this sucker on eBay , thing was nearly brand new. Man the battery life on this guy was insane. Went 2 days a few times without charging. Loved how droid didn’t add too much overtop the stock android experience. I also liked how I could tap my screen to get a quick look at notifications/date/time

Note 4: beastly phone, great display, huge screen for media. I honestly didn’t use the spen as much as I should of honestly. Touch Wiz wasn’t nearly as bad from what I remember with my s4. Probably because of the extra RAM

iPhone 6 Plus: the second i saw Apple was doing a plus model for the phone, I knew I wanted it and I was getting burnt out on android. wanted to switch things up. Battery was good, screen wasn’t as good as my note. But I was back in the Apple ecosystem of iMessage and such. I liked it

LG v10: I remember walking into T-Mobile with the mission to get the Samsung s6 Edge Plus. Didn’t even know the v10 came out. I saw the secondary screen and I was hooked from the jump. I liked the phone. The fingerprint scanner wasn’t that good though. I did like rugged build though. First phone I’ve ever used without a case 24/7. Got hit with the boot loop bug after having the phone less than a year. I was pissed and vowed never to get an LG product again

Note 7: oh man, this one. I remember Samsung posting the reveal on twitter, this thing looked GREAT. Immediately went to T-Mobile and preordered. Got the phone the day before release day for some strange reason. I found myself using the spen ALOT. Screen was gorgeous, I was having fun. Even bought a gear s2 with it. One huge problem is that I was not getting good battery like at all. I was getting 3 hours of actual usage before I’d have to charge the phone. My buddy had one and it was the complete opposite. I had no idea what I was doing wrong. Then I get the text about the recalls. I was pissed . Loved the phone, but I had to return it

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: I hated it, hated the size, hated the edge, I even hated the damn color they gave me because they didn’t have gold. No matter, this is just a filler until they release the note 7 again.

Note 7 (2): woo back to my note 7! Oh how I missed you spen. Battery life seemed to be better as well....two weeks later, nope you gotta return the phone again, we are going to just pull the note 7 all together .....WTF.... had no idea what i wanted to do.

iPhone 7 Plus: hmmm, I like that matte black color....meh, I’ll give it a shot since I don’t want another LG , hated the S7 Edge. I liked being back in the Apple ecosystem. Hated the screen quality next to my note 7. I lived with it and got use to it.

iPhone X: I was yearning for more. Got the series 3 and an iPad . I wanted to just dive in fully with apple. I messed around with the X demo unit at my job. Works well. Feels premium and I liked the screen quality . Didn’t like the price....but I would only be paying $20 more on my bill so I said eh let’s do it.

Long story short, I have a pretty unbiased opinion with smart phones. I don’t get the bashing of one brand compared to another. Both devices have their pros and cons. Instead of bashing someone, why not objectively look at someone’s differing opinon , acknowledge you don’t agree and then move on?

TL;DR: who cares if someone prefers something else? How old are we ?

@Turtle69Turtle Normally I'd quote your post but…wall of text.

Anyway, I don't bash or criticize others choices. I criticize the choices of the device manufacturer if I do not agree with those choices.

This time around Apple and I happen to disagree about design choices in relation to the physical aesthetics of the device. So, I will move along when the time comes to get a new device (soon).

But don't mistake my disagreement with Apple as bashing or trolling users because personal choice is just that…personal.

And that’s perfectly fine! At the end of the day, it’s your device, don’t like it? Do something else. It’s great to have choices

I won't date a woman that uses an android. There is something about their priorities in life. Its just a whittle down method but its worked for me. Apple, blackberry, windows, or a dumb phone is fine but not android.

Intelligent, rational people (like me) don't bash Androids or iOS. We just go with our preference... and then we return to our polo match.

I have friends that will never leave Android, friends who only do iOS, and friends in between. I don't think I've gotten into a bashing session with any of them. That's what losers on forums are for! All have their differences, and I don't recall a single conversation of anyone trying to convince someone to switch. As I've been saying in many posts, the competition is what keeps these companies making better phones each year. We're all the big winners!

Might be that women may not want to date someone who makes superficial choices like that?

I always go from Android to Apple each and every year. Each has their pluses and minuses. Right now, I'm enjoying my iPhone X more than the Note 8.

Because people like to fight online because they're bored (just like you at work) and prefer to have a "winner" in their minds.

All platforms are just app launchers. Both are used similarly. Apple, Samsung, and Google all help each other. Such a waste of breath and time.

Android vs apple is not arguing, its exploration.

In fact it is more like a lovers dance.

I agree. Get what appeals to you. I’m happy with my iPhone X. I’ve had several androids in the past (most recently the Pixel) but they’re just not for me. Apple’s ecosystem and software are far superior in my experience.

Apple: "Samsung, can you make the displays and flash storage for us? We will pay you but we got TSMC to make the chips. Cool?"

Samsung: "Sure, man. Duly noted. But it's going to cost you and I'm still going to attack you in ads. But sure thing. We're fast and reliable."

Google: "We will make apps for both of you. Apple, keep selling a ton of iPhones. We want more web traffic. Same to you, Samsung. Keep selling hardware for Android."

The one looking through the window standing outside is Microsoft. Not invited to the party.

Then those three amigos inside the room will all hold hands and sing kumbaya. Then they will mock each other through ads so people can choose sides. But all three will be laughing and running all the way to the bank while we argue.

Think of all of them like rival casinos...

"For guys like me, Las Vegas washes away your sins. It’s like a morality car wash. It does for us what Lourdes does for humpbacks and cripples. And along with making us legit comes cash – tons of it. I mean, what do you think we’re doin’ out here in the middle of the desert? It’s all this money. This is the end result of all the bright lights and the comped trips, of all the champagne and free hotel suites and all the broads and all the booze. It’s all been arranged just for us to get your money. That’s the truth about Las Vegas. We’re the only winners. The players don’t stand a chance."

A quote from Casino? I don't even care about the context, this is an automatic upvote :D

where hip is spoken
I buy Apple products because of how they make me feel. My self-esteem is tied to what others think of me and when they see me rockin' Apple gear, they think that I'm hip, cool, intelligent, and trendy.

So when I see someone in the mall using an Android phone, I'll walk up to them and extend my condolences to them. I encourage them to "hang in there" and if they work hard enough and apply themselves in life, they too might be able to afford an iPhone. But that's me, I'm an encourager, I'm a people person.

Agree with this 100%... this is what I try to do. And I also have found Apple veering in a way that doesn't work for me more and more. The problem is in trying to have civil discussion, sometimes you run into someone that pushes enough buttons to get a reaction. And then sometimes its entertaining to react. To me, its best for everyone if the competition remains fierce, because I'd hate to be in a world where we have a monopolistic company that is the only choice.

Any place but here or there....
It's the nature of the board...it is Apple slanted. Currently, Android and I do not get along. That said, I love some of the Android phones coming out now (especially the Essential. Keeping tabs on it and Android software.)

I think it's great folks use both, which kind of blows my mind since I am so stuck on Apple's ecosystem.

I really cannot bash someone else's choices, if they prefer one or other. That's their call.

I might purchase a Moto E4 soon as my lone little backup Android device to use for my family, but I am retiring from the Android flagships at least for the foreseeable future.

I find that it's generally the trolls that are reacting and taking your words out of context. Most rational people are willing to accept that you may have a difference of opinion with the way Apple does things especially if you explain that the criticism isn't hate but disagreement.

It's really a one-sided discussion though when all the other party wants to do is trash Apple or is unwilling to accept that you have an issue with their decisions.
