Hi guys,

As soon as I updated to the release version of Sierra I turned off beta updates in system preferences.

Nevertheless, yesterday I noticed PB 1 appearing in available updates, and it started auto-downloading.

I cancelled the download, but woke up this morning to see that my Mac had auto-updated to PB 1 overnight!

Really pissed off. I was free to beta test over the summer as I had some time off but now I need a rock-solid system. So:
  • Has this happened to anyone else?
  • Is there any way to roll back to 10.12 release candidate?
  • How can I stop PB 2 (or whatever the next public beta update is) from installing? (Without turning off automatic updates as that is a feature I like).
Thanks for any input.

You'll need to restore from your backup to get back to the release version.

Yes, it happened to some members here, me included.

I did what you did, in System Preferences to disable beta updates.
But, 10.12.1 showed, fortunately, it didn't download.

The problem I've found is that my mac (and you mac too), while unenrolled, was still pointing to Beta catalog for the update.

The solution : Get back to production Catalog with the following command :

softwareupdate --clear-catalog

Yep, happened to me as well. Then I had to use Time Machine to restore it to the night before it installed the beta. But I realized I didn't back up my applications. Big mess :(
